Twilight buddies - an owl (the night king, a smart liar) and a peacock (queen of the birds, beautiful, filled with pride and rather stupid)
Once in a meadow, lived two friends - an owl and a peacock. They barely met for a few minutes everyday , just around sunrise and sunset. Just after one of them woke up and the other went to sleep.
The peacock was beautiful, filled with pride. She knew she was the most beautiful in the meadow.
The owl was wise, loved the moon, the stars, the night life.
One evening, the owl talked about the beautiful night so much, that the peacock was tempted to stay up and check if it really was true.
The sun went down, the moon came up. It was a full moon night, and was indeed beautiful!
The peacock stared at the sky all night, couldn't believe how beautiful the sky was.
She wondered what the moon was. A big white ball of cheese? A pot of milk? A giant mushroom?
Nope. She couldn't figure it out.
"I can't think what it could be? It has to be a giant something?", she said to the owl.
"What? The Moon? Not really. Its just the moon", he said.
She decided she couldn't be sure until she tasted it.
The peacock insisted, she wanted a piece of the moon. She had to taste it.
The owl tried, but couldn't convince her other wise.
"Alright. I'll bring you a piece tomorrow", he said.
The peacock was thrilled.
The day passed, and as the moon rose up in the sky, the owl brought a piece of coconut.
"Here's a piece of the moon, as promised", he winked.
She had never tasted anything like it before. She loved it. She wanted more, she wanted it everyday.
"Its not a good idea you know. The moon is what makes the night so beautiful. If you eat it all up, the night will be dark and scary.", the owl warned her.
She wouldn't listen. She insisted again.
"Alright then. I had to warn you and so i did."
Every evening after that, the owl bought her a piece of the moon, and as the days went ahead, the size of the moon reduced.

The peacock didn't seem worried at all in the beginning. But as the size of the moon reduced, and the night grew darker, she started to worry a little.
She thought the owl may have been right.
The moon went from a full moon to a gibbous, half, crescent and then no moon. A new moon would be born again, and the cycle would continue. The owl knew it. He had been up so many nights to understand the phases of the moon.
When the moon wasn't there one night, the peacock got really worried, as she held the last piece of it in her hand.
The thought of dark scary nights really bothered her.
She told the owl how she felt. She told him, she didn't want to eat the moon any more. She wished she could bring it all back!
The owl suggested, they should sow the last piece in the sky, and just hope it grew back. He said he'll help her in whatever way he could.
The plan worked! Slowly the moon started growing.
Sigh! The peacock was relieved. She said, as much she enjoyed the last few nights, she had to agree that her place was in the day. She thanked the owl for everything and bid adieu to the nights. She promised to see him at twilight, just like the old days!
